“Don Neto,” founder of the Guadalajara Cartel, is released; he kidnapped and murdered “Kiki” Camarena

Criminal boss Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo, known as “Don Neto,” was released after serving a 40-year prison sentence for the kidnapping and murder of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent Enrique Camarena Salazar in 1985, sources from the federal security cabinet confirmed.

The founder of the now-defunct Guadalajara cartel completed his sentence last Sunday at his home in the Hacienda Valle Escondido neighborhood of Atizapán, State of Mexico, where he had been under house arrest since 2016.

It’s worth remembering that in 2015, the Second Unitary Court, based in Guadalajara, Jalisco, sentenced the legendary drug trafficker to 40 years in prison, along with drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero, who was extradited to the United States just last February.
