Stepping out for the community, that’s the reason why community representatives are chosen.

Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez knows firsthand the needs of tenants in Los Angeles. The councilmember is one of the politicians who rents in his own district.

“On Saturday, we will have a Tenant Resource Clinic in our district. We will have experts there to help people find critical resources, such as support and protections against eviction, financial planning instruction, and assessments to see which public resources are available to each person,” commented Andoni Elías Nava from his communications office.

“The Resource Clinic aims to serve tenants in our district. We will have experts there to help people find critical resources, such as support and protections against eviction, financial planning instruction, and assessments to see which public resources are available to each person,” he added.

The event is free, and the information will be available in English and Spanish.

“In particular, we want our Latino residents to know about the event because we know many of them would benefit from these resources,” says Elias.

“The majority of people in Los Angeles are tenants, and one of the most common reasons people become homeless is because they can’t afford their rent. Therefore, our office is doing everything possible to help tenants stay in their homes,” he adds.

Evictions and rent increases are among the most serious problems facing the population of Los Angeles.

The event will be held at the Bresee Foundation.
