Marcela Luevanos: Detoxification has become a very popular and controversial topic lately. Many people think they need it without realizing it. Others undergo treatment for purely cosmetic reasons.
For Marcela Luévanos, a specialist in skin issues, detoxification should be understood as a natural process of the body. “There are times when we need to give our body a break, eliminate toxins, and reset our cells,” says Luévanos.
However, in our society, there are still many things that are not well defined regarding this topic. “Many people think that detoxification should be resorted to when something is not right. What we want is to incorporate a detoxification process to prevent any future problems,” Marcela adds.
She says it is easy to tell if the body is dehydrated, has wrinkles, or pigmentation. All of this is attributed to the lifestyle habits we have. “Basically, detoxification is not very complicated or expensive, it is simply a change in habits in the way we live,” she says.
And she mentions the importance of social media. “There is a lot of information, people are more informed. There is both good and bad information, but people can educate themselves better,” she adds.
“There are many ads that promise to eliminate wrinkles, overweight without any basis, that is a problem,” she says.
The concern for feeling and looking better has brought many benefits. “We are now more concerned about how we live and what we consume,” says Luévanos.
The owner of Skin by Marcela recommends drinking plenty of water, consuming more vegetables, and eliminating processed foods. If that is done, a change in the skin will be noticeable. “I can recommend what I see outside, for other internal problems, I refer them to a specialist,” she adds.
Marcela believes there is no excuse for not carrying out a detoxification. You can go to an expert or simply do it at home. “Again, it is a change in habits. You can do it for one day, three, one week, one month. It depends on what you are looking for,” she says.
Tips by Marcela Luevanos:
