Stefany’s Journey: “My only interest is to have more energy and feel better.” (1 of 3)

The transformation she has undergone in recent months has led her to shift from spending hours empowering Latinos to empowering herself as well.

For several years, Stefany Hernández has experienced what many people with evident overweight go through. However, instead of hiding or being ashamed of the 250 pounds she once weighed, she decided to use her experience and charisma to show that big can also be beautiful.

This 35-year-old Latina has gained a significant number of followers for the information she shares on her social media platforms. For over 3 years, she has been posting data and recommendations on her page @wanderingstefany on Instagram and TikTok, suggesting new travel destinations, sharing updates in the fashion world, or encouraging more plus-size women to see that they too can access a beautiful and modern way of dressing. And this last aspect has been precisely one of the factors that set her apart.

Undoubtedly, the work Stefany does through her social media and as COO of the LatinxTravelClub is aimed at improving the lives of others. However, six months ago, she received an invitation that also ended up improving her own life and that of her husband.

“Giving up alcohol was the most difficult because I was used to always having a drink in hand… but I learned to replace it with mineral water with lemon.

For several years, Stefany Hernández has experienced what many people with evident overweight go through.

“A friend who is a healthy coach gave us a month of nutrition counseling,” says Stefany to Parriva. “She said, ‘For these 30 days, you will not consume alcohol, you will drink at least 100 ounces of water daily, you will try to get 8 hours of sleep a day, and you will eat as healthily as possible,'” she recalls.

Accustomed to drinking all kinds of wine at every social, family, and corporate event she was invited to, giving up alcohol has been a challenge. Living in San Francisco, California, many of her events take place in the Napa Valley, so she and her husband Rafael have quite a collection of wines and champagnes at home.

“Giving up alcohol was the most difficult because I was used to always having a drink in hand… but I learned to replace it with mineral water with lemon, imagining that it’s my own champagne,” Stefany adds, laughing.

“Shortly after starting the diet, we noticed that we felt better, with more energy, and also better about ourselves for making better decisions,” she adds.

And as with any weight loss diet, food restrictions were also added to the list. Stefany is always on the go, so she got used to eating junk food, ordering fast food from taquerias, or whatever was convenient. But the new meal plan only included buying fresh food and cooking at home.

“And that’s what we did,” Stefany comments. “More my husband, actually. He has helped a lot because he knows that I live too busy. Fortunately, shortly after starting the diet, we noticed that we felt better, with more energy, and also better about ourselves for making better decisions,” she adds.

Six months and 6 days after changing their eating habits, Stefany doesn’t know her current weight. She’s not interested in keeping track because she asserts that how her body looks has never been a concern for her.

“From the beginning, my only interest has always been to have more energy and feel better,” she states.
