“The Turkey Drive has become a lifeline for countless families across Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.”

Families in Los Angeles have had a tough year. The rising costs of food and utilities continue to increase. Likewise, the homeless population living on the streets keeps growing.

As a result, many people will rely on various organizations that will provide food assistance, so that this Thanksgiving isn’t as painful as it could be.

One of these organizations is Clínica Romero, which kicked off its 20th Annual Turkey Drive last Friday at its Van Nuys clinic. The drive will continue this Thursday, November 21, at the Alvarado location from 4–5:30 pm; on the 22nd at Marengo from 12 pm–1:30 pm; and on the 26th at Canoga Park from 3 pm to 5 pm.

“We’re more than just a clinic; we’re a community that shows up for each other, especially when it matters most,” says Carlos Vaquerano, President & CEO of Clínica Romero. “As our community is hurting, we’re committed to ensuring that families can sit down to a Thanksgiving meal. No one should have to worry about the basics, especially during the holidays.”

This series of events is supported by Monica Rodriguez, Councilmember of District 7, and other community partners.

“The Turkey Drive has become a lifeline for countless families across Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. As we reflect on the challenges facing our immigrant and underserved communities, we are reminded that they are the heart of everything we do,” says a press release from Clínica Romero.

For many families in our community struggling with food insecurity, mental health challenges, and economic hardship, the holidays can feel especially overwhelming. But together, we can change that. This season of gratitude offers us all a chance to lift each other up, offer kindness, and ensure that no one faces Thanksgiving without the comfort of a meal shared with loved ones.
