Corridos tumbados and barrio reggaeton storm the global stage at 2025’s biggest festival

Junior H and El Malilla Among the Mexicans Set to Perform at Coachella 2025
The festival will take place in Indio, California from April 11 to 20.

Among the confirmed names for this year’s Coachella lineup are Junior H, El Malilla, and Iván Cornejo—artists representing Mexican music on an increasingly global stage.

Junior H, originally from Guanajuato, is one of the most visible faces in the corridos tumbados movement. Since his debut in 2019, he’s carved out a major presence in the regional Mexican genre.

El Malilla has made a name for himself in the Mexican reggaeton scene, with a raw urban identity and lyrics that speak to the realities of life in working-class neighborhoods.

Iván Cornejo, born in Riverside, California, but of Mexican descent, will also be performing. Known for his melancholic ballads within the regional Mexican scene, he’s gained strong popularity among young audiences on both sides of the border.

Their presence at Coachella 2025 continues a tradition of Mexican acts gracing the festival’s stages. Past years have featured performances by Nortec Collective (2001), Café Tacuba (2003), Julieta Venegas (2007), Molotov (2009), Caifanes (2011), and newer acts like Hello Seahorse!, Le Butcherettes, Ximena Sariñana, and Carla Morrison (2016).

Latin America also takes the spotlight this year, with acts like The Marías (Puerto Rican roots), Argentine duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso—known for blending trap, rock, and electronic sounds—and Rawayana, a Venezuelan band with Caribbean-alternative vibes.
