On Easter Sunday, hundreds of people gathered this afternoon in the Clavería neighborhood of Mexico City to commemorate “International José José Day.”

In Clavería’s China Park, where the statue of “El Príncipe de la Canción” stands, fans gathered along with LPs, cassettes, and T-shirts of the singer of “El Triste.”

In the park of this neighborhood in the northwest of Mexico City, where José José was born, dozens of entire families and impersonators performed songs such as “Payaso,” “Seré,” “Almohada,” “Me vas a echar de menos,” among others.

April 20th is considered International José José Day, in reference to the lyrics of the song “Me vas a echar de menos.”

“You’ll miss me when you feel alone in the arms of another love and know that I still exist and that I’m living my life, or maybe not anymore.

“And you’ll be calling me every April 20th and they’ll say that no one’s there, that I’m far from here, and you’ll be so sad thinking about what you did and you won’t be able to pretend,” the song’s lyrics say.
