While Doña Carlota already has her own tale for shooting two alleged paratroopers in her Chalco home, another elderly man has now emerged who foiled a robbery. The man identified as Don Fer pulled out a machete to defend his stationery store, while a pair of motorcyclists were trying to rob him in Tulyehualco, Xochimilco.
According to the video, a man was waiting for his accomplice on the sidewalk on a motorcycle. Suddenly, a man sped off in terror, and behind him, an elderly man was threatening him with a machete. Everything was captured on a private security camera. The man on the motorcycle, wearing a helmet and a white T-shirt, immediately drove off, leaving his accomplice struggling in the street with Don Fer, the elderly man who runs a stationery store. Although the gunman attempted to land a few machete blows, he ended up falling down a ramp, and the alleged assailant was able to escape.
It’s worth noting that the man who entered the stationery store to allegedly rob the store dropped the weapon he was carrying. The store clerk went back to pick it up while calling for help from a woman, who appears to be a relative or a neighbor. Soon, some dogs appeared, and other people assisted the elderly man, who didn’t appear to have any injuries.
Reactions to the video were swift, with some congratulating Don Fer and comparing the incident to Doña Carlota, who was arrested by the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM). The elderly man was even nicknamed “Grandpa Machetes.”
