Massacre at Culiacán Rehabilitation Center: “They didn’t kill us all because their rifles jammed”

During the early hours of Monday morning, a group of gunmen broke into a rehabilitation center in Culiacán, Sinaloa, and committed a massacre.

The attack took place at the “Shaddai A.C.” addiction clinic in the Colinas de San Miguel neighborhood, where an armed group broke down the garage doors to enter. Once inside, they violently executed nine people and wounded five more.

According to witnesses, the attackers wore ski masks and claimed they had been tricked, meaning they had handed them over. They then began to execute their fellow inmates in cold blood.

The wounded were identified as:

Víctor Francisco ‘N’, 41 years old.

Jesús Francisco ‘N’, 29 years old.

José Luis ‘N’, 42 years old.

José Alfredo ‘N’, 53 years old.

Lilith Alejandra ‘N’, 21 years old.

“They didn’t kill us all because their rifle jammed. It was going to be a massacre, they were going to kill us all. They left quickly because they couldn’t do any more,” said one of the survivors. In total, nine people were executed and 20 survived, five of whom were injured.

The dead were identified as:

Pedro González

Jesús Jovany

Raúl Ponce

Alejandro Cota

Heriberto Bastidas

Jesús López

José Medina
Unknown male, who died in the hospital. He was approximately 40 years old and had a rhinoceros tattoo on his chest.

Unidentified male, but inmates mentioned the name Manuel ‘N’, which could be the victim’s identity. This has not been officially confirmed at this time.
