“We are all Carlota!” With messages and shouts of support, a group of protesters expressed their support this Wednesday, April 9, for the elderly woman who shot alleged home invaders in Chalco, State of Mexico.

Holding large posters and banners, a group of family and friends gathered outside the Chalco Penitentiary courthouse to demand the release of Carlota ‘N’, as well as her two children, Mariana ‘N’ and Eduardo ‘N’, before the hearing that will determine whether they remain in prison resumes.

The events occurred on the afternoon of April 1, when the 74-year-old woman shot several times at two people who allegedly invaded a home she owned in the State of Mexico. Both individuals were unable to get up after being shot.

It was on April 2nd that Carlota ‘N’, along with her two children, were arrested by municipal police from Chicoloapan and Chimalhuacán. They are currently being investigated for aggravated homicide and attempted aggravated homicide.

“Carlota México is with you,” “We are all Carlota!” “Free the 3 of us!” “We are all Carlota! Enough with the invaders!” “STOP crime, jail for the invaders!” “Free Carlota!” were some of the slogans the protesters chanted outside the facility.

According to Quadratín México, Mrs. Carlota was reportedly taken to the Chalco Penitentiary and Social Reintegration Center for the murder of two men that occurred on April 1st in the Exhacienda de Guadalupe neighborhood of Chalco.
