Emergency Services for Homeless Individuals

Breaking the cycle of homelessness requires more than stop-gap measures, but when someone is in crisis, providing support is critical. We offer a variety of emergency homeless services to people in need, ranging from providing food and hygiene to our Women’s Crisis and Bridge Center

Healthy Living Program

The Midnight Mission designed the Healthy Living Program, which utilizes industry-wide best practices and progressive thinking. This customized program offers strong educational, vocational, legal, health and wellness resources in an effort to encourage our program members to become self-sufficient.

Homeless Services for Families

The HomeLight Family Living program applies The Midnight Mission’s proven approach to homeless services to help families get the support they need to get back on their feet and stay healthy. With a strong emphasis on achieving self-sufficiency through accountability, our families are given the opportunity to live in a clean, safe, learning-focused environment, empowering them to create a new life for themselves and their children.

The Midnight Mission established its Family Living program all the way back in 1994 as a response to substantial increases in homeless families. Today, the HomeLight Family Living Program consists of 11 renovated, fully-furnished apartments located in a safe area of Los Angeles, providing a haven for unhoused families to build a new life. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, HomeLight offers not only a safe residence, but a comprehensive path to building a healthy, happy, and self-sufficient life for families shattered by abuse, addiction, poverty, and homelessness.

HomeLight offers support to the most vulnerable members of our community, giving victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and those dealing with issues of sobriety and other unthinkable circumstances the space, time, support, and accountability to build a new life together. Families who are accepted into HomeLight typically live with us for one year, providing them the time to stabilize and plan while moving forward in a structured environment. Family members receive individualized plans for their transition to independent living that include mental health therapy, job preparedness, and family reunification.

Services for Homeless Families

At The Midnight Mission, we understand that recovery requires more than just a place to live. That’s why we provide full-spectrum support to families experiencing homelessness, including all of the following services:

  • Career Preparedness: Actionable job training and support in finding a stable, dignified career.
  • Child Development: Every child deserves the support they need. We provide the age-specific support necessary to ensure healthy growth and development for our child-age guests.
  • Continued Care: We help our families build a plan for transitioning to independent living and continue to support them as they adjust to their new life.
  • Counseling: Growth requires healing. That’s why we offer compassionate, comprehensive counseling to help our guests heal from past traumas so they can move toward a brighter future.
  • Education: We’re proud to give our guests the education and training necessary for the next chapter of their lives.
  • Life Skills: Some people don’t have the good fortune of learning core life skills at a young age, so we offer support for every aspect of healthy living.
  • Mental Health Services: So many unhoused people struggle with mental health issues. That’s why we offer access to comprehensive mental health treatment services to help our guests heal.
