The Biden administration proposed its most radical policy to restrict access to asylum seekers who passed through a third country that denied them asylum, and to facilitate their deportation. The plan, which must go through a period of public consultation, triggered a wave of outrage among Democratic lawmakers, activists and immigration lawyers. They call it a repetition of the anti-immigrant policies of the Trump era.
