According to her office, a spokesperson says that the video posted by Councilmember Ysabel Jurado was a mistake when she stated that she was not an attorney.
Parriva published a report based on a video posted on the social media of the current Councilmember from District 14.
“It was a mistake; she didn’t mean to say that,” says one of her spokespersons.
“Councilmember Ysabel Jurado has been a licensed attorney with the California Bar since 2020, however, she is not a practicing attorney because she is a full-time Councilmember.”
The spokesperson added that what the Councilmember meant to say was that she was not practicing law because she is a Councilmember, not because she is not an attorney.
Yesterday, Parriva published a report based on a video posted by her office. Parriva did not verify the authenticity with the State Bar because of her own claime that she was not an attorney.
“The Councilmember has been involved in different city committees; she hasn’t been absent. She took a leave for health reasons and others, but she was very concerned about not having passed protections for immigrants,” says her spokesperson.
The Councilmember won her position in an election against former Councilmember Kevin de León, based on an agenda centered on her community work.
We thank her office for clarifying this matter and we all understand we are humans and mistakes happen.
